There are two main types of excavator breakers: Gas Fired Breakers and Specialized Breakers, each engineered to meet specific working conditions and task requirements.
1. Gas Fired Breakers, also referred to as gas-assisted hydraulic breakers, are a common type characterized by their combination of hydraulic power and gas compression. This design allows Gas Fired Breakers to deliver powerful, consistent blows while reducing energy consumption and hydraulic system wear. They are suitable for medium to heavy-duty tasks, such as breaking concrete slabs, asphalt pavement, and medium-hard rocks. Their compact structure makes them compatible with most excavator tonnages, from small 3-ton machines to large 50-ton excavators, and they are easy to install and maintain.
a) Silenced Breakers: It incorporates all the advantages of top-mounted breakers and features a fully enclosed design. The main powercell and the bracket are assembled using shock-absorbing dampers and pads, resulting in low noise and failure rates. Often used for demolition, tunnel operations, and slag breaking.
b) Top Mounted Breakers: Main bracket plates and mounting cap assembled design, adaptable to various types of excavators, good versatility, long length, wide operating range, broadly used in international markets. Often used for demolition, tunnel operations, and slag breaking.
c) Side Mounted Breakers: One-piece bracket design, simple structure, hollows on both sides of the bracket for easy maintenance, low cost, widely used. Often used for excavation and mining.
2. Specialized Breakers are custom-designed to handle unique or extreme breaking scenarios that standard breakers cannot address. This category includes Fully Hydraulic Breakers, Underwater Breakers, Tunnel Breakers, Backhoe Loader Breakers and Skid Steer Loader Breakers. Ustella breakers are engineered with specific functionalities, making them indispensable for specialized engineering projects.
a) Fully Hydraulic Breakers - Under matched flow conditions, the fully hydraulic breakers operate at a higher frequency of strokes per minute compared to gas-fired type breakers, making them suitable for secondary breaking in mines and construction projects.
b) Underwater Breakers - Considering the temperature characteristics of underwater operating environments, special design concepts and process parameters are adopted to ensure the stability of underwater operating equipment.
c) Tunnel Breakers - Designed for top mounting, suitable for installation on excavators for breaking operations. With an overall long length and extended breaking distance, it employs single body typed brackets without mounting cap separation that prevents cylinder scratching. Applying a chamfered special grade cylinder helps prevent scratching.
d) Backhoe Loader Breakers - The backhoe loader-mounted breakers are designed and developed to meet the breaking requirements of backhoe loaders.
e) Skid Steer Loader Breakers - The skid steer loader mounted breakers are specially designed and developed for skid steer loaders to meet the market's demand for higher impact energy and optimal performance.
The core purpose of excavator breakers is to break hard, compact materials efficiently, replacing labor-intensive and time-consuming traditional methods.
1. In construction projects, they are used to demolish old buildings, break up concrete foundations, and prepare construction sites by clearing rocks and hard soil.
2. In mining and quarrying, they break large ore blocks into manageable sizes for transportation and processing.
3. Municipal engineering relies on breakers for road renovation (breaking old asphalt), pipeline installation (breaking compacted soil and rocks), and disaster relief (clearing debris after earthquakes or floods).
Excavator breakers offer numerous advantages that make them superior to traditional breaking tools.
1. Significantly improve work efficiency: a single breaker can replace dozens of manual workers, reducing project time and labor costs.
2. Provide precise control—operated by the excavator driver from the cab, breakers can target specific areas without damaging surrounding structures.
3. Gas Fired Breakers save energy and reduce wear on the excavator’s hydraulic system, while Specialized Breakers offer versatility for unique tasks.
4. Breakers are durable and reliable, made of high-strength steel and wear-resistant components to withstand the high-impact forces of breaking hard materials. Their compatibility with most excavators also eliminates the need for additional specialized machinery, reducing equipment investment.
